Question about rimless tanks and stands.

So I am currently looking at a good deal on a Marineland rimless 60g RR cube with stand. The stand is the Marineland Ventura model. The stand has a completely open top. Maybe a half an inch all the way around the tank rests on the stand. I was under the impression that rimless tanks had to sit on a solid surface. But it also seems the tank and stand are made for each other from what I’ve read from Marineland. Can any one shed some light on this. Maybe if you have one of the Marineland rimless cubes on a Marineland stand you can tell me if yours is the same way?

Rimless tanks do not need a solid surface. Frameless tanks do.

It is completely frameless. No plastic frame on top or bottom. It is just the 5 panes of glass.

I have an SCA on an open Marineland stand, Montery if I remember. Just to make me feel better I cut a piece 24” x 24”, then put it on the tank pad. Been fine since. I think the more important thing is making sure the tank is as level as possible.

I would put it on a solid surface with the leveling pad.
