DIY Background Question

I am thinking of buying a tank. The seller put a custom background in the tank. He used Great Stuff Foam and Quickwall concrete. Is this safe for aquarium use? Anything to worry about? Thanks.

Great stuff is fine. It's what anyone with a rock wall uses in this hobby. Quickwall concrete is not the preferred concrete, but I've seen other forums put it to use. Was the rock in saltwater before? The reason it's not preferred is the salt can corrode the softer concretes over time. If its been in saltwater before though it should be ok.

Idk. This guy claims he has another tank up and running with the same back wall. He supposedly just made this wall and says it still needs to cure. It made me a bit leary. Also the fact that I cant see the tank full of water because of the wall curing. Maybe I should just wait untill I find another deal?

The curing should be happening under water.... That's weird... I've been researching and making DIY reef rock now, and it needs to cure underwater for at least a month.

Ok. Thanks for the help guys. He told me I would need to cure it for 2-3 more weeks. Not sure if it is full now or not. Just assumed it was empty. I will ask what kind of great foam he used.

If there was salt in his mix it will take at least a month even after it cures dry. If there wasn't salt it should still cure wet for at least a week.

Well, He says he used the black great stuff and the tank is currently filled with water. What do you think Ben? Go for it?

Bring a pH test kit and see where it's at. If it's less than 9, then go for it, because that means its curing. And if it looks good, lol.
