got mine from DD, he passed not too long ago. not sure if he got stung by nems, cudnt handle the flow, or not enough pods. if i had to guess id say nems.
I've had mine for 3 weeks and he seems to be doing fine hopefully he last a long time.... I don't have Nems in the tank so we will see

Looks good.... Give it some time to build a little slime coat after all the cleaning i did with vinegar and you're going to love it...... A little fine tuning to get the bubbles breaking middle of the cup and watch the gunk come out of there....

It should quiet down even more after a coat builds up if it's not already dead quiet.... Plus it'll use a lot less power than the mag18 you had before.

i have it in 9" of water, lil more than wat you and others have recommended. the bubbles are hitting the top of the cup, spilling over into it as we speak. when you had the water level high in the skimmer did water drip out of the air line from the water level tube?

Nope. Maybe need to make a small platform to raise it up an inch or two? I always had the bubbles breaking right around the middle of the cup and then the crud would make it's way over but I tend to skim a little dry.

Don't forget that you can adjust the front of the volute to change how much air it's bringing in and then you can use the wedge pipe to get the level correct in the skimmer....

dam, was hoping i wouldnt need to do that, ill see wat i can do to raise it up. breaking in the middle of the cup like the water level in the skimmer is up to the collection cup?

Here was when I first broke it in..... You can see the top of the bubble tower where the big bubbles pop is about at the bottom rim of the cup... I would normally bring it an inch or two higher than this then when the organics get brought up the slowly get pushed over into the cup.... You're fine I'm sure just skimming a little wetter than I was...

You can see it on one of my old skimmers here, the big bubbles pop in the middle'ish part of the collection cup...

I'm thinking you're going to be okay with the water level, you can try to add more air via the white knob on the volute (the adjustment from BK was unscrew it until you see lots of microbubbles coming out the output of the skimmer, then turn it back in a quarter to a half turn).... I believe I had it around two and a half turns out if memory serves. Then once it builds a slimecoat the microbubbles will stop completely and you know you'll have a bunch of air coming in then and you can just adjust the wedge pipe to skim to your preference.
