POT's new chalice/monti tank

He's a zoa guy and SPS would be too much for that tank. That's why I recommended sand....to maintain high nutrients.
Yeah wont probably do a lot of sps. I'll have a couple montiporas..and "try" some acro's..

if I had a very small tank and planning on feeding alot, I would go barebottom, otherwise nutrients will build up real fast. If you are planning on feeding alot with this tank, I would go barebottom and just keep siphoning out leftover food and detritus to keep your nutrients low. it's also easier to spot where detritus and food collect in barebottom and you can put a bunch of corals there to eat the extras that end up there.
I'll be spot feeding a lot of my chalices with Marin pellets and feeding some Azox and reef chili.. But I won't go feeding too heavy since I want to keep my tank parameters very pristine


Still kinda undecided but my tank would really look nice with a thin layer of sand lol

Added some tropic eden sand and put my two new home owners in the tank.. W&J the harlequins :)

Changed out the scape and got my new diy led on my tank hood 8RB and 3W and 3 moon light leds all thanks to mr higgs! U the man!!



Also heres the preggo harlequin shrimp :)

Bam! Actually, the moonlight is using the 1W LEDs that the original fixture had. I'm all about recycling :)

Hey everyone just an update

After a month of the tank settling in with the new leds i have little to no more algae in the tank.. Also i had a casualty.. My whitecap goby died.. Idk why but just saw him dead under my rock.. Some good news , my flame prawn goby and my hi fin goby is still alive :) and my harlequin pair is also doing great.
Loving my LEDs on this tank everything is doing great polyps on my monti is all out and everything is all open and happy .

Inhabitants are:
Harlequin Shrimp pair
Hi Fin Goby
Flame Prawn Goby

Corals:
-Tyree or jason fox toadstool (from joe)
-Kenya Tree (from Danny)
-Superman Monti (From nino)
-Torch Coral (from coral compulsion) -recovering from its emerald crab attack
-Unkown Chalice (from WCR)
-Green Glove Polyp (from coral compulsion)

My light setup(thanks hobbit :))
8blue leds 4 on top 4 on the bottom
3white leds in the middle

3 moon lights in the middle

Love this thread. I also have a 46 bowfront with a pair of Harlequins, a pair of Randalls Gobys, a Steinitz, and a pistol.
