Hi i was thinking of drilling my rock to make it look more natural than just a pile of rocks I've been reading that u can drill wholes in the rock than put acrylic rods in to help make unique structures anyone have any experience?
I also read some guy used plastic hangers instead of the rods.thx

the driveway markers from home depot seem to be very popular for this. Fiberglass is inert.

Do you guys think using coat hangers would leech out chemicals? I can ding acrylic rods besides online
i think they would be questionable stregth and could potentially leach phosphate. Unless you can determine exactly which plastic they are using, it's a risk. The fiberglass driveway markers are fiberglass and inherently inert.

So the drive way markers should not leech?
the're pure fiberglass AFAIK. I know that because I have tried to push them into the frozen ground without wearing gloves. That was unwise. Fiberglass is just like is sounds. Glass spun out into fibers. It's as safe as your aquarium itself. I would go with white ones just in case the coloration has anything in it, but I think, since it's coloring glass, it has to be chemically bonded or contained colorant (in the glass) . I have used two short pieces in my tank for about 2 years now and everything seems manageable for me.
