240 watt LED project build using 10w chips

I current already have a DIY build running on my 90 gal tank. It has 3 heatsinks with 36 3 watt leds, each. I already purchased 5 20 watt 14,000k whites. My current 108 led system has 3 meanwell eln 60-48 dimmable analogs with potentiometers. But I think that the multichips may be a better choice. Also, the c channels seam small for the heat of 10 watt leds.

Ohh also look into 30w led chips they can be ran full power on the LDD 1000 and you can add some smaller chips in the channel because they take 30v left with 18v for other chips

Thanks. I've been debating the new build. Probably use the 14,000k( which may be 20,000 k) as highnoons. Then keep the 3 watt 10,000k, 6500K and 4500K as the white mix. Also, the RB and B. But I, know that I need more Red, Green, and UV. I did go a little light on the blue in the original build so I believe more blue would be closer to the 14,000k color spectrum that I'm looking for.

So I checked some voltage numbers on the channels, and here they are.

Running 4x 10w LED chips

Channel 1, 4x 10w led royal blue ran on LDD 1000

60% 36.4v - 5.46watts each 10w royal blue chip
70% 37.4v - 6.54w
80% 38.4v - 7.68w
90% 39.4v - 8.86w
100% 40.3v - 10.07w

channel 2, 4x 10w Cool white ran on LDD 1000
60% 40.7v - 6.1watts each 10w cool white chip
70% 42.7v - 7.47w
80% 44.6v - 8.92w
90% 46.3v - 10.41w
100% 48.2v - 12.05w

My math, and I have checked the amperage from the drivers 60% - .600ma.... 70% - .700ma... 80% - .800ma and 100% - 1a.
so the math is simple for example 60% of royal blue channel 1.
36.4 / 4 = 9.1 since there are 4 10w chips
9.1v * .600ma = 5.46w each chip

Just received my x2 10w UV chip 390-405nm 70Lm and man I am pleased, the most expensive LED in my build at $10 each chip, from ebay. might even get another one. Ill give a picture of just the uv chip on.

Finished putting on some fans to keep the heatsink cool the highest temp now at 80% was 102°F using a infrared thermometer. At 70% did not reach past 100°F usually around 96°F

Just waiting on some 3w leds 30x 3w cool white, 10x 3w red, 10x 3w green.

And for some pictures.
at 80%

only 2x 10w UV at 70%

looks great man. For my fan i tied to the same plug as my actinic channel. That channel goes on first and says on last. but my fans are 120v. they're pretty quiet too

Thanks, I bought a 5v relay and see what I can work up with that.

Also I don't know how smart this is but if my 10w led royal blue are running at 9v at 60% can I add another 10w chip to the LDD driver? It will still be less than 48v?

Thanks,

In my never ending home improvements I was HD today and checked the c channel out. Which one did you use? the widest I saw at my local HD was 3/4" x 3/4".

So you recommend a heatsink. I plan on adding these to the sides of my current heatsinks. So that I can expand my current LED system. 20watt 14000K fore high noon, RB, B, UV, Red, and Green.

For only 3w LEDs the c channels are fine for 10w you need fans directly above the chips on c channel

That power supply will work. The one I bought has 7.5 or something amps for 35 on eBay shipped might want to look at that one and it came in 2 days ill give you the link if you want with power supplys you always want to go bigger. If you put less stress on the power supply the longer it will last
