OFFICIAL 2014 Q3 Tank of the Quarter Nominations

Please nominate your favorite local Chicago Reefer's tank for Tank of the Quarter (TOTQ) for Q3 2014 (July-Sept). This quarter will be cut a bit short due to the nominations starting now. Nominations will end on 7/22/14 and the new winner will be announced 8/1/14.

Nominees must meet the following criteria:

  • Premium Member
  • 100+ Meaningful Posts
  • Tank Established for 6+ Months (upgrades OK, just no brand new tanks stocked with $$$ in coral and fish to look full right away)

From the list of nominees Chicago Reefs Staff will pick the top 5 for the quarter. From the top 5 list, the previous TOTQ winner will pick the new Chicago Reefs Tank of the Quarter. If the TOTQ winner does not have the equipment/knowledge to take high quality photos of their tank, I would be happy to come out and do it for them. I'm sure other reefers would be willing to take photos as well.

I'd like to nominate Eddie's tank [MENTION=971]Shanko[/MENTION]
It's one of the most beautiful sps reefs I have seen and his keep it simple formulae is really amazing

I'd like to nominate the most unique tank I've ever seen....Crooks 240 gallon Wonder Tank.....it's a wonder that it's still running....

Unfortunatly, at this point the only eligible nominee in this thread is Mai and last time he was approached he wasn't interested. I'll ask him again and see how he feels. If Eddie, Matt, or Hung become premium members before the cutoff they will of course be eligible. Eddie is also below the minimum post count but that might be changed depending on how many (if any) eligible nominees we get.

In my opinion a build thread shouldn't be necessary since the TOTQ write up will be so comprehensive. If CR staff disagrees though, it can definitely be added to the criteria.

I'd like to see more build threads in general. It's tough to vote/nominate TOTQ when there are only ten or so build threads that are actively updated, some of which aren't even holding water yet. I don't get out to see other people's tanks as often as I'd like, so I'm mostly stuck with internet reefing. If there's no build thread, and a tank is nominated, is the previous TOTQ winner expected to go to each reefer's house? Come on people.....create and update your build threads.

Also, [MENTION=4]lunacris[/MENTION], the link to your build thread in your signature line links to someone else's for sale thread for a orange plate.

i agree with gunner , hard to nominate folks or even come up with one when you dont see it . i was trying to find a nano tank to nominate last night because dont think theres been one here yet and i thknk they are harder to manage then larger tanks but couldnt find any that were really current

I need to update my build threads badly.... I actually don't even think I have one here of my 60g. I need Mai to come take pictures though....

I think everyone should have a build thread too. I think we should make a build thread mandatory and have the link in your signature if you want to sell on the forum. This way you can see the see the tank etc before you buy.

I've only seen [MENTION=110]Top Water[/MENTION]'s tank in person but it was a beautiful setup so he's got my vote.
