So far it’s doing a lot better after leaving the lights off for about a week and running the UV 24/7. I got some cleanup crew a few days before turning on back the lights on and things have been moving along good. I’m going to run the UV 24/7 until the tank matures.
When I saw the brown slime...
Update 3/11/2025
I believe I started to get Dinos when I turned the lights on after a week or so. I started to see brown slime with little bubbles all over. I think it was my mistake for turning the light and leaving it at 40% which might of been WAY too much light for this tank. Over the...
I transferred my pair of clowns into the tank during the week and will be migrating some of the corals over. Let’s see how the tank does as it acclimates with now having the lights on.
Let the fun begin!
Thanks all for the suggestions and help. Over this weekend I reworked the aquascape with some extra rocks I had. The idea I was trying to go for was having two separate islands but each one having layers to them. Basically like Sawdoney mention having the layering effect. I'm going to start with...
UPDATE: 2/12/2025
Late last month I got my shipment from TBS and I added the live sand and some live rubble. As of now the tank is cycled but still thinking how I should approach this. Should I let sit like this for a few months or just start turning the lights on slowly? I transferred the coco...
UPDATE 2/12/2025
I was fortunate enough to get some nice corals from Sawdoney! a few weeks ago. I wanted to redo my aquascape so this was the perfect time for me to do it and add them. Normally for the last three years or so I mainly had leathers and a few LPS. I been wanting to try some Stylos...
Update - 1/8/2025
I decided to install the Kessil full angel adapter for two reasons. It allowed me to further move out the Kessil light so it wouldn't be directly under the Straton. It also let me aim the light source exactly where I want it.
Earlier in the week I mixed some E-Marco...
I was originally going to get the is tank when I first started because there was already a lot custom things available for it, but eventually ended with a UNS 45A as my first nano tank.
In the next week or so I'll add some Mortar in between the shelf rock so it doesn't move. Then add water and some Fritz or Tim and Only to start the cycle.
These are the settings I'll be using at the Kessil and starting at 30 percent intensity since I have the narrow reflector.
Got this heater I'll be using along with an inkbird but honestly, I think I won't be using it as much with the amount of light and return pump power I have on this tank...
Update 12/27/2024
A few things I ordered before the holidays, arrived and I just got around to getting them installed while I had some time off work.
I got these two Turbulent Flow Nozzle from Cleven to help with random flow which should help with the anemone.
Normally this IM25 comes...
