    Funlad3's 45 Gallon 3' x 2' x 1' Acropora Lagoon

I just grabbed some coral from Mike ( @930reef ), and they're way larger than I was expecting! They came out clean from my Bayer dip, and they started putting out polyps within literal seconds of hitting the tank. Once they settle in more, I might cut smaller chunks off of each and move the...

    Spartanman22's Fluval M90

Ugh; I'm sorry to hear that this hasn't slowed down! Any chance of being able to pull the corals to put them in a new/clean tank and doing a relaunch of the M90?

    Funlad3's 45 Gallon 3' x 2' x 1' Acropora Lagoon

Tonight I glued down the test SPS frags and took some daylight shots. Everything's doing well so far, so I might move some new frags over tomorrow or Monday. I've *almost* got a working white balance for pictures, but for now, enjoy some slightly overexposed pictures. Spath under daylight...

    GFO Directly in Display Tank?

You should be fine with this! You'd get more efficient. interaction with the media with an internal or hang-on reactor, but a bag will work too (just a bit more slowly)

    Funlad3's 45 Gallon 3' x 2' x 1' Acropora Lagoon

I was very unhappy with the pictures I took last night, so I waited until all of my lights were out to try again. I shot these top down above the water with my old Canon T3i and used standard Blue LEDs in a pointer to spotlight the corals. I still need to play around with my custom white balance...

    Return Pump Replacement Suggestions

I absolutely love my Vectra; it's dead silent and it comes apart easily. I've broken my fair share of return pumps trying to pry off the face plate, and it's just not something I need to worry about with Ecotech's design.

Macro will definitely bring it right down. I made the mistake of not testing daily when I added a bunch and let it strip my water in three days.

    Funlad3's 45 Gallon 3' x 2' x 1' Acropora Lagoon

I have a few acro colonies sitting in a different tank until I'm confident that this one is ready, but I couldn't wait any longer and had to add some test pieces of coral to the lagoon. Here's a rainbow acan that I couldn't resist. It puffed up right away and looks as happy as can be: And...

    Funlad3's 45 Gallon 3' x 2' x 1' Acropora Lagoon

The female boxfish is officially eating. Now I just need to get the male to follow suit.

    Funlad3's 45 Gallon 3' x 2' x 1' Acropora Lagoon

I've isolated the dripping sound to the water that makes it around the collar of the filter sock instead of going through it. My filter sock holder is about 5" higher than the water level in the next chamber, so I think I just have to figure out how to limit the water that doesn't make it into...

    Funlad3's 45 Gallon 3' x 2' x 1' Acropora Lagoon

So this is what I got done yesterday: I put an eggcrate divider in the QT (with a Naso-sized hole) to stop the male boxfish from nipping at the female. Both are way more calm today and were more interested in food than yesterday. I'm going to run out to the store tomorrow to get some PE mysis...

    Funlad3's 45 Gallon 3' x 2' x 1' Acropora Lagoon

I'm honestly more worried about the boxes having enough space; they're big and they love rock crevices, so I'll have to see how they behave once they make it into the lagoon.

    Funlad3's 45 Gallon 3' x 2' x 1' Acropora Lagoon

No worries! I have a 6' 125 gallon downstairs that I can move it into when it gets too large. It's still only about 3", so it should do fine in the 3'x2' footprint for now.

    Funlad3's 45 Gallon 3' x 2' x 1' Acropora Lagoon

Today, I got the adapters that I needed to completely silence my plumbing. Now the only noise from the system is the water dripping into the filter socks. Anyone have any ideas on how to quiet that down? Otherwise, I can live with it, especially when I get around to skinning the stand. The...

    Funlad3's 45 Gallon 3' x 2' x 1' Acropora Lagoon

Thanks! If I were running this no rock or sand, I'd have corals in within the next few days. With this rock though, I'm going to take it a bit slower and see if I get any sort of a cycle or nutrient spike. It was supposedly cycled/had a full round of Doctor Tim's Waste Away before it was...

    Funlad3's 45 Gallon 3' x 2' x 1' Acropora Lagoon

Just two pictures, but there was a lot of work behind them. Plumbing is done! There was one pinhole leak on a seam of the external overflow box, but I dried it up and applied more acrylic solvent/glue. I still need to get some threaded/slip adapters to I can put the drains coming from the sump...

Brand new build 60 Gallon Build

The T5s will definitely get you more coverage and fill in shadows, but I'd personally shoot for a second 26. You might even be able to get away with two Primes and some T5s, but you're going to drop off towards the edges with only one LED unit.

I'm still out in the burbs! I owe Ryan a visit; I always forget that he has this one. And pest free is always nice. :)
