    Lights

I agree with Chase. AI is affordable, powerful, and the newer ones are all WiFi. Also big plus Ecotech owns them lol. Hydra 26 HD on my Elos Mini seahorse tank and couldn't be happier.

    Return Pump Replacement Suggestions

Cannot go wrong with a DC pump. Pick your brand but I have had great success with Jebao/Jecod.

    Silly question

If there's a carbon block in there then yes, but do splash in a bit of dechlor just in case. Replace at least every 6 months or when chlorine starts to creep up.

    Silly question

Sure can as long as it's not super sensitive species like certain shrimp. TDS on waste water is usually ridiculous lol

Best SPS you ever had or wanted

Haven't had SPS in years but if I get back in: $500 Efflo. And just efflo's in general, I love them.

Whats your favorite public aquariums across the country?

Georgia aquarium for me. To us reefers it's "ehhh" lol but the size of the exhibits and variety of livestock is incredible. To keep people from wasting their money, I'd never go back to any of the SeaWorlds.

March 2020 Tank of the Month Contest

Thanks! I say go for it but do know the limitations, you really can't have a full blown mixed reef.

    What happened to reefwise!

I was there two weekends ago and there was literally almost nothing in stock but also did confirm the change in ownership. I'm also starting to see revival of their facebook page too, which is step in the right direction.

    Gingerbread tropical fish and coral

I like it, small and concise. They have a pretty good selection. Prices are fair with the area they are in.

What's one piece of equipment that changed things?

Vortechs and Gyres. I remember starting the hobby over 10 years ago and the best I had was a MJ1200. Bulletproof pumps but terrible wavemakers.

    What makes R2R so special?

goat585, It's not a website issue or that it's extremely difficult but more of workflow suggestion. Let me know what you think of this: What I envision is templates, like a blog or say new website (with no HTML knowledge). New threads and posts are blank canvases and can be difficult for...

    What makes R2R so special?

1.) What makes R2R so special? While I'm not a member, the member count and money they gross makes it more appealing than a club with a local focus. While CR is open to the public, do not forget we have a Chicago focus. Plus I bet R2R is paying google to bump up their search results, they trump...

Do you post on other reef sites

I'm actually not a R2R member. Mostly CR, RC, and Nano-Reef. Anyone know what happened to Uberfrags? I still have the bookmark but haven't been on that site in YEARS.

    Aptasia problem

Bergia nudi's were 100% for me, while I'm 0% with peppermints. The nudi's are expensive and for good reason, some have success with peppermints but I can't vouch for them after numerous attempts. They come into AquaPro's once in a blue moon but I went in on a group buy a long time ago when I...

    Wiz's Koi Pond

Top of my head I don’t know, there are calculators out there if you google it. Always account for extra. But that size is about the same size of my first pond and a 25x25ft liner was wayyy more than enough.

    Wiz's Koi Pond

Basically, wasn’t the best way to do it but it was quick and easy. If I was do it right I would have did a rectangle with concrete block filled with concrete and rebar.

    Wiz's Koi Pond

Partially true. Deep, wide, and long is good. EPDM 45mil pond liner is good. But does not need to be held in place by rocks, can be anything structurally sound and does not rot, rock should be decorative but not touch the water, its a haven for detritus, algae, and bad bacteria growth.

    Wiz's Koi Pond

Unless I’m thinking the same and you want a fiberglass pool not those plastic ponds you can get at say Home Depot or Menards, then this is a good start. But most if not all those plastic tubs are too small for a pond that will make it over winter. Pond needs to be at least 32” deep to prevent it...

    Wiz's Koi Pond

Hard to say because I was able to salvage a lot from the old pond. Still using the original liner I got years ago. But I'd say i'm in 5K over 8 years.
