What is it? I need you guys advice.

Nice! Try keeping them on for a bit, see if the algae comes back. If so you can always turn them off again.

What is it? I need you guys advice.

If no coral you can probably get away with just having the lights off. Phosphate levels?

    300 gallon financial sinkhole

Sweet can't wait to add a mining facility to my build. Maybe I can plumb it to my sump.

    300 gallon financial sinkhole

One of the more interesting challenges I had with the tank was finding away to feed nori. Because of the tank being acrylic and having such a thick brace, I wouldn't be able to just reach in and grab a magnet or clip on the wall. Furthermore I wanted a way where the front of the glass wasn't...

    What kinda music?

It's 3am and you just toppled over/took apart your scape trying to catch that hellspawned damsel who's suddenly developed an iq of 3000, you know it's going to be a late night as you start stacking rocks on top of each other again to find a look you like What kinda music do you listen to while...

    Harlequin shrimp ?

I think they'll also go for tuxedo urchins too. You can always stock up on sand sifting Stars when they're cheap. I remember chocolate chips used to go on sale for $4 each. Nowadays they're much more. Liveaquaria actually has has on sale right now funny enough

    Harlequin shrimp ?

I did before. You gotta stock up on chocolate chip starfish. I think there was a post before on cutting off legs of the chocolate chips and feeding those, alternating between stars since since legs grew back but I don't remember if the census decided whether that was cruel or not

    Here I Go Again

If you want a really nice alternative to velcro, this is what I use https://www.amazon.com/Dual-Reclosable-Fastener-SJ3560-Clear/dp/B07QNMBB28/ref=sr_1_49?dchild=1&keywords=velcro&qid=1612676788&sr=8-49 It works really well and doesn't give you the issues velcro does like worn out fuzz and not...

    300 gallon financial sinkhole

yeah stand building definitely took a good amount of time, I was fortunate to get it done during the summertime but I can imagine the winter slowing things down by a lot

    300 gallon financial sinkhole

It's never a bad time for an upgrade 🤔😁 6 feet is definitely still a lot of room though. What made me really notice the difference was using the same rock from the 180, but I actually ended up having to get more because it wasn't enough!

    300 gallon financial sinkhole

it's easier to do as you're filling up the tank, using E-marco Cement locks everything up nicely

    300 gallon financial sinkhole

also picked up this cam at a killer deal from Costco and the Porthole from Avast marine, I really look forward to try them out and finally be able to take some decent coral pics! Still not ready to jump the $1k macro lens though, so i'll have to make do with the one I have. It's an EOS Rebel...

    300 gallon financial sinkhole

More picks of the setup. I really like how clean the wood skin came out to be you can also see the canopy in action, and the doors which were surprisingly difficult to add. I ended up finding soft close hinges that didn't have to be on the inner frame of the door, it closes and opens super...

    300 gallon financial sinkhole

my personal favorite part of any build is the scaping. I like the randomness and creativity i can put into it. for this build I chose a three island approach. On the right, I would include LPS and zoas, as well as a mushroom garden. The center Island would be for the more invasive coral...
