    300 gallon financial sinkhole

Next step was buffing the tank. I used an orbital palm sander starting from 600 going all the way up to 10k grit sandpaper, it was definitely a long process and I can say I spent several hours at a time inside of the tank. Much soreness followed, i used a handheld polisher to remove the hazing...

    300 gallon financial sinkhole

After the stand frame, I started working on the canopy. I had a few things i wanted resolved with the canopy: I wanted lights to be inside of the canopy. My previous tank, the 180 gallon, had the lights coming out of the top. This made being next to it annoying as the light bleed would cause...

    300 gallon financial sinkhole

First things first, I needed a stand. I decided the best way to go about it would be building one myself. Made the frame from pine, then layered the outside of it with oak. some tips for future stand builders: get a kreg pocket hole jig. I was a believer that the kreg jig was overhyped and...

    300 gallon financial sinkhole

Before the tank even came down, I wanted to have the new tank ready to go. I picked up a used Acrylic tank for a pretty good price, at almost the exact dimensions I wanted. I originally wanted glass, but a new tank was financially out of the question and there was no one selling a glass tank...

    300 gallon financial sinkhole

Hi! some of you recognize me around the forum, some of you have bought or sold coral or equipment from me. Point is, I'm way overdue a tank thread but always hesitated because it had already been set up. I'll be going from a 180 gallon to a 300 gallon acrylic tank, documenting experiences...

    Fluconazole for bryopsis

It works wonders. Going in my biggest worry was the effect that it would have on the macroalgae I try to keep, but so far results have been positive and they seem to be doing much better!

Day 9, happy with results so far. Did a 10 gallon water change, added 1 tablet of fluconazole to make up for lost water and skimmate

    Fluconazole for bryopsis

Day 7, bryo really took a hit. No algae effects still, skimmer is going back online today. Caulerpa is growing beautifully, halimeda opunta is actually branching upwards. Even the botryocladia is coloring back up .

    Fluconazole for bryopsis

Day 6, noticing more melting on the bryo. Maybe a heavier dose would've had a faster effect, but I couldn't risk the macroalgae. So far nothing else seems to have had any reaction to the fluconazole. The botryocladia that had it growing out of the bubbles does seem to be turning white though

    Fluconazole for bryopsis

Small update. Day 3, looks like the bryopsis is turning white. Corals and fish have shown absolutely no effect

    Fluconazole for bryopsis

I'm starting a fluconazole treatment today. I'll use this thread to log and record data as well as upload pics, hopefully it'll help someone else down the road! It started a few months ago, when a small bit of fuzz started growing in my 60 gallon macro tank. Things were kind of relaxed until it...
