90G Stand Modifications

I just picked this up off craigslist a week or so ago, Im using it for a 110G Tall rimless tank build (slowly)
i am going to repaint it, and do the inside with some sort of white waterproof 2-part epoxy (unless someone recommends otherwise)
Im just wondering are there any other worthwhile modifications to be made to a standard style stand, because now is the time for me to be making them

Definitely going with a sump! Lol, i already had that issue with my 55, just figured someone would have found a permanent modification for that issue by now!

Thanks for the link! definitely an option! Any tried and true methods for interior coatings that hold up to saltwater abuse?

I would look into a deck stain. that was my plan. I figure it is made to withstand the weather, it can handle a few splashes. Another thought is to get a accessable top made for the sump to help lower evaporation and splashing. you can do it out of plexi glass or acrylic, making only openings for hoses and cords. Just a thought
Beautiful stand BTW

i hope not, i will be bottom drilling the new tank so i can push it as close to the wall as possible. Why?

If I had access to the back of the stand, I'd knock out that center brace, assuming it's not load bearing, and be able to remove the sump at will, in case of emergency. To put a decent sized sump, you're going to have to go top in, and then you're locked into that sump and hoping nothing happens. If there's a way to mod the front so it looks like it's got the center brace, but it's actually attached to one of the doors, that would be ideal. You always have to think worst case and plan for the best system possible, otherwise you're throwing $ away.

wonderful insight. not a bad idea about attaching the center brace to the doors, now, how would one go about re-enforcing the stand to make up for eliminating the center brace.....hmmmm:hmmmm:

This is one thing that worried me about my current stand and is why i am upgrading my tank and stand lol.
