Algaefix Marine

This is my last try to get rid of my hair algae and I was wondering if any one has given this stuff a shot. I have been fighting algae for over a year and cant win. I will be getting shoulder surgery in 4 days so my tank maintenance is going to be a lot less for a while. I have new bulbs, cut back on feeding, tried tank black outs 3days, added two reactors for carbon and gfo, weekly and by weekly water changes 40g, went from a 29g sump to a 80g, reef octo 160 skimmer to a octo sss 5000, probably 300$ in clean up crews snails crabs urchins sea hairs, bought 2 mp40s for better flow and pick hair algae out every few days. I have also taken rocks out and soaked in h202 and also tried spot treating with h202 and it works but my sps do not like it. I do have it under control but I am sick of it. I think I am going to try this stuff I read 80 pages on it on reef central and it seams to be working for people. My hope is that it kills my algae and then my cheato will start soaking up my phosphates and my problem will be in my sump growing cheato like crazy (yeah right)
I never put anything in my tank like this and against everything I have ever told any one about reefs.

People have said it slows down growth but didn't kill it. Even if it did that would be well worth it if it got rid of by GHA

It worked for me and I spent...years and years pruning and working different concepts. I did eventually loose macro, but the product is effective and I would recommend using it

Thanks I just did my first dose. Even if I loose some inverts that will be a small price to pay for my year or so of frustration. I have already lost sps, zoanthids and spent hundreds on clean up crews so F it.

7 hours after first dose and everything still seams ok. This might seam crazy but my hermits and other algae eaters seam to be eating it more then ever before. Maybe it is all the heinekins and shots I had down town at www.lascarola.com tonight

If the algaefix doesn't work for you, I have some Algone that I know to be reef and invert safe. Regardless, good luck!

Whats causeing the hair algae u test, use r/o if oroblem isnt fixed it more then likely reeturn just saying. When u set up tank did u use live rock or dry? Just curious seems like every one i know that went cheap with dry sand and rock is haveing major algae issues for long periods of time. So just wondering what u used for my own curiousity

Live sand from previous tanks, 75lbs of live rock and 100 more of dry rock from macro rocks. Yes I test I run a 7 stage ro system with dual membranes and a booster pump. I change my DI when I hit 2 on my tds meter. Most rock is dry rock until your lfs cures it or some one else does or they get it form the ocean but what are the chances of that living in the Midwest. This was my last effort before surgery if it works I will be happy if not then O well. I ran 2 very successful biocube 29g for 3 years with only 10% weekly water changes. I wish big tanks where that easy.

The bigger the easier from my experience. Sounds luke u have everything covered weird u haveing algae problems. Hope the treatment works i never tried it myself. Good luck with surgery too

Do you have a DSB ? I had a similar problem , I tried everything and nothing but I had a DSB and once I got rid of that it fixed the problem . I think that all that sand was probably holding uneaten food or it was holding on to much detritus . I even tried cleaning the DSB when it was it was in the tank and nothing , I had to remove it.

Thanks Madjoe surgery is Wednesday
This is why this is my last resort I don't get it ether. I have done everything out there to try and fix my problem and nothing works.

marine algae fix just made the algaes to go away for a short while, they will return, u need to find the root cause.
