Apex JR question.

Okay I am a bit confused on a couple things with the system. The question is how many modules can you hook up to the unit? What is the max, and what actually counts as a module? Here is what I have currently, and I know i want more modules in the near future.

Apex Display
Energy Bar 4
Energy Bar 8
PM-1 Module
2x Temp Probes
1 PH Probe

So how many modules am I at currently? And how many more can I get? Also can I just buy an apex brain and hook it up to my JR and make it a full system? (seems cheaper than buying a full system now). Is the energy bar 4 the JR brain? and will it still work if i just a full system? Sorry for all the questions, I was scanning through the apex website and wasn't able to locate the info and then i read somewhere it was 7 and someone else said only 5. Thanks again!
 
well i think the probes will take up a port a peice and if u connect the 4 to the 8 that will be another port lost
