I hadnt seen my Hoevens wrasse in 4 days. Then he reappeared but at some point lost an eye. That was about a month ago. How much longer is he going to make it? Is it unheard of for a fish to live a long happy life with one eye? Im trying to base this off the last fish i lost from this situation but this one has made it 26 days longer so far. Hes eating very well and does not seem to have any issues making his way through out the tank. Just curious as id really hate to loose him.

If he is still active, eating, and otherwise healthy. He can survive just fine with only having one eye.

They can live a regular life id worry about why he lost eye if was another fish that he fought with he might not survive next attack if it was just a parasite or wound that gave him pop eye and eye fell out he should be ok . Keep eye on him see if any one bothers him

thanks everyone, i dont know how he lost the eye actually. I was gone on business and when i came home i had an ich problem and lost 6 fish(thanks hunny). Well i thought 6 until he reappeared missing an eye. So far so good, he eats like a pig and seems happy. Nobody picks on him but i have noticed that my checker wrasse has become the victim and he is the bully now(it used to be the other way around). I will keep an eye on him i guess.

Ive seen ich cause eye irritation and can cause pop eye witch can cause eye loss. But again when wrasses fight they go for the eyes. So just keep eye but like everyone said he can live a normal life
