Finally moving forward. After a good 2-3 month cycle, the first fish is in, a chromis! Next we'll be re-doing the aquascape, removing the PC canopy in favor of halide (unless I come into some money and buy leds), and adding a skimmer. Then we will pack it full of coral.

Nooooo, I love the scape! Wide and flat top, perfect for coral!

Glad to see you starting to stock!

I know, it's almost a shame, since it already looks pretty natural. I want some more flow underneath though. More sand surface for chalices and the like, and less dead spots under rocks. And I want a couple shaded spots for nps too. I hope I don't regret messing with it..

Lookin good guys! I'm about to order some LEDs I bet we can get your hood outfitted for under $100 if you're interested!

Come over one day and let's discuss it. And see if you can help me convince Emily to let me have 2 tanks up.

We're finally working on this tank again! I put together a fixture that will house the two par bulbs and two blue led strips I got from SkullV.
It's made of luan plywood. Tomorrow when the glue is dry I'm going to cover it all in fiberglass cloth and epoxy to make it impervious to water and salt. Then I can paint it, wire it up and suspend it from the ceiling.

The two 3" holes in the bottom are for the par bulbs. The strips I will attach lengthwise in the bottom edges and wire cleanly through little holes. I'll wire it using two separate lamp cords w/ the built in switches.

Yeah, the black metallic wrinkle finish. It will look sharp, and obscure any actual wrinkles in my fiberglass work.

We're getting somewhere now. Finished the fiberglass fixture, sanded and painted. Got all the wiring done, soldered everything. There's three cords, for the PAR bulbs, blue led strips and the single moonlight. I also put in two switches so I can control the lights manually. It will hang from the ceiling by wire or nylon rope.

Looks awesome! What are this led clusters and what drivers are you using?

They are custom spectrum Par 30s from Coral Compulsion and two blue stunner strips from EcoXotic.. They were the same lights that were running over my SpecV (he got them from me).
