Brown Jelly on Torch coral!! HELP

So yesterday when i came home from work i noticed some brown slime coming out of one of the heads on my torch. The torch has about 7-9 heads (i dont remember exactly). I shrugged it off and didnt think to act, but by the end of the night there was only about 1/4 of the polyps left on that head. the rest of it looks ok for now as they have fully extended. My issue is that i'm not sure where that came from? Is there anything that I can do to prevent it from coming back? I've had this torch for almost a year now and i have never had this issue with any of my corals.
Thanks in advance!

Had brown jelly on my Duncan that I had for 2 years last year and tried dipping it. After researching it more, it seems that there is really no known cure. My other lps were fine, but it took my Duncan out. Good luck.

I read somewhere that you should cut off the infected head(s) outside of the tank and hope for the best....google Brown Jelly Disease (BJD)

Thanks. So far so good. Sorry to hear about your duncan. That's my favorite coral in my tank.

Im not sure if I'll be able to do that myself without Dremel or something. The head that the bjd took a out was in the middle

Following...had the same on my torch...now the head is bright white... every other head looks fully extended and healthy but then out of nowhere today I see a peppermint shrimp literally eating what's left of my hammer frag... 3/4 of the head is gone... I didn't get to see if it shot out brown jelly like my torch did or if the peppermint shrimp just got hungry... i feed every other day and corals daily.

The torch has been doing well since I last posted about it,. I haven't lost any other heads or corals. Not sure what may have caused it to do that? Now I'm having a problem where I think it's in too much flow. Only some of the heads fully extend out, or they alternate. I update and post pics as I go along. As far as feeding, I do the opposite of you, corals every other day and fish/inverts daily.

So far so good. You can see the head that bit the dust. But I'm glad it's doing better
