I'm not sure where to post this but I need some help trying to catch a vicious dotty back in my 30gal tank any suggestions? Do I need to move all the rock?

Try sticking a mirror to one side of the tank towards the top away from the rocks. When it comes out to attack itself, scoop it up in a net. If that doesn't work, then try the bottle trap method. It's cheap and effective for smaller fish.

I had a rogue dottyback I had to catch twice (gave him a second chance in a larger tang). First time I removed all the rock, second time I drained the tank to about a half inch of water and got him out, then filled the tank back up. Was much easier and faster to simply drain the tank, as long as you do it quickly all your other corals/fish/inverts will be just fine.
