Clean out yer hole!

Dang! I did it again! My tank had a power interruption and started to back siphon through the return. I just don't remember to clean out the return anti-siphon at the top of the return. It gets calsified and clogs up. Fortunately, I was home and able to catch it before I had a major mess.

So clean out yer hole!

You should also point your return just a tad bit under water, so when it siphons, it can't siphon too much water.

I do the exact same thing with both of my tanks. The larger of the two tanks has a larger sump that can take up the overflow, but the smaller tank cannot and I've had "minor" flooding lol. Once I raised the output spigot to the waters surface, I've never experienced that again.
