Coral feeding

Ok so I have been really working hard on the corals lately....pics coming soon. I will need some identifications soon as well. But the main question of the day is.....I have read to s of topics on feeding Corals and mostly everyone just argues about what types of food to use. I bought some rods food yesterday so I will give that a try. How do you feed them? I know to turn off the flow but for how long? Should there be no flow in the tank at all?

Mario from Aquatica told me to shut off the filtration "leave off for about 30 min. so you dont filter out all the food you just put in" but leave flow going as to move the food all around the tank. Then there is target feeding but I'm not sure if you turn off filtration for that or not as I have not done that yet.
