hey guys.how to clean this thin layer of dirt/dust from sand in my tank?i know i supposed to rinse it before, maybe is better to drain all water out.i used overflow filtration with sock and now sump looks like mess thanks

Don't waste time and water draining. just keep running with mechanical filter and wait a few days, It will all clear up. Make sure you change the sock and rinse it, because it will clog up really fast.

I agree. You will never get all of the dust out. Just keep replacing the mechanical filtration and washing it out. Eventually, over time, all the dust will come out.

For mine i just bought one of those house In line filters (kinda like a DI/RO paper filter) and stirred it up. and in day or so it was gone! I had to change it out about 2 times tho. the thing looks like this

Get good flow in there. Run a HOB filter with filter floss (pillow stuffing). Keep changing out when it gets clogged.

decided to drain it out!took me 6 hours to clean sand a little bit.

Geessh!! can't believe you went through all that trouble to clean the sandy water. You could have just waited a few days. It would have been easier to keep rinsing the filters.

finally looks like a sand right now

Nino,it was to much dust on it(1/4inch)if i was moved it with finger half of tank was cloudy.
