Feather Dusters in the sump of an AIO Tank

I have somehow convinced myself that this is a desirable organism to have. However, it also is a source of organic particulate matter that eventually floats around my tank when I mess with the sump compartments.

Should I take a bottle brush and scrub that section clean? It is going to make a heck of mess, initially. And, it will surely comeback in a few months.

Thats up to you, they do come back over time. I usually let them grow in my overflows and just use a turkey baster to dislodge detritus.

How are they a source of Organic particulate matter? These guys are about as good as they get.

Pieces of broken tubes. Looks like fish poop, which is also tubular, floating around. I am sure its not fish poop. I don't have any fish.
