Flushing a rodi

Can you use the clean side water while flushing your membrane? I noticed my pre di tds goes up pretty high while flushing but my final tds is still 0. Just wondering.

Your DI filter does most the heavy lifting, and your pre DI filters help reduce the TDS count so the DI's life can be prolonged.

Are you trying to flush the membrane with 0TDS water? Is that the idea?

No just flushing the membrane on a regular brs five stage with the stock flush kit. I think you answered my question though. Flushing will accelerate wear on the di but the water is still safe. Thanks

Well, flushing the membrane shouldbe done monthly or weekly depending on how much RODI water you make. You only need to flush for a couple of minutes. This will extend the life of the membrane which is the most costly filter.

The flush kit installed on the BRS RO membrane uses your sourse water to flush away sediment that has been trapped on the outside of your membrane. That water then exits thru the waste line until you close the valve.

On our ships(I am in the Navy) RO water watermakers we have the abliity to divert the fresh water we just made to flush our membranes after a few hours of operation. We only have this option available because.....well because we are floating on a salty sea. The only source of fresh water we have is the water we produce.

Hope this helps a little. :)
