Glass Top or No Glass Top?

I was wondering what everyone's thoughts are on this. I have a 40 breeder with a Current Nova Extreme and a 36 inch Ecoxotic led stunner. The manual from Current says not to be used over an open top. What do you guys think? Should I ditch the glass top? Thanks.

What kind of screen top? Is is a diy kind of top or can you buy these? Like a reptile top?

It's a clear plastic mesh you can get it from BRS or there is a guy on the forum selling it local. You basically make a top from a window frame DIY kit from the hardware store and use the mesh instead of bug screen.

There is not the surface area on a net like there is on glass for the salt to accumulate.

I had Anthony fabricate an acrylic cover for my tank. Since I use leds, i wanted something that would diffuse and spread the light a bit. My optcs are 100 degrees but as my tank adjusts to these lights I plan to change the optics down. The acrylic cover should refract the light so I won't have any spotlighting.
