Good article to read about Phosphate..

Yeah a good article I read awhile ago. He pretty much dispels rinsing of food before feeding, though I guess there are very very marginal benefits to doing it. I also like to see the community moving away from ULNS systems to 0.03 to 0.08 type systems.
 
I'm attempting to keep mine around .04 its harder then u think lol. I'm usually at 0.00 and I've slowly been trying to bring it up and stabilize it.
 
Mine is going from .05-.06 ... Im fighting a green hair algae problem ! Could this level of po4 being doing this ? I have approx. 250 gallons total volume , running gfo / carbon , now i only have 2 fish in my tank and its a 180 , i feed them every other day 1/2 cube of frozen mysis .... Yes rinsed ??

I got algae about 3 months ago..when I dosing dog heart worm to kill Blue Clove Polyps all gone but Green hair Algae grow too much. I am dosing vodka every day to keep my P (from 0.03 - 0.07) and N (0 - undetectable). No GFO for me because I don't like the brown stuff in the sum. The most help my tank to clean up Algae are the real Mexican Turbo Snails, they clean all. My tank now no algae at all but still have some little inside the overflow and in the sum.
I never rinse the food so I cannot answer the question.

I will have to get some and try that , it's the only thing I can think of because I've tested my levels and all are good ?

Dkh 9.6
No3 zero
Ammonia . Not detectable
Nitrite zero
Have not checked my magnesium level but I've heard that a higher mag level of 1400 or higher will keep the hair algae gone as well ??
And everyone has always said to keep a healty reef tank you have to keep nitrates to zero and po4 no higher than .03
But now starting to read and hear that slightly higher po4 say up to .07 corals still do ok ?
So really what is the target range for acceptable levels of po4 for mixes reef ?
Sps , softies , Lps ...... I know each of these can withstand different levels just curious to hear what most people are finding ?

Mark, I read some post over RC and R2R...I saw most people keep there PO4 from 0.03 - 0.07 (My range too) because the corals need some phosphate...Your parameter seem fine, now I think you need to manual clean up algae and buy lot of Mexican Turbo Snail..My tank is 120 gallon and I have about over 15 mexican turbo snails.
 
Mai how do u like dosing vodka over vinegar. I've been dosing vinegar for some time now but I'm still getting the stupid stringy bacteria in my sump and I notice my glass gets dirty quick to. Not dirty like grim high nutrients but like a white film

White firm is Bacteria grow, so it's good..I got the same and need to wipe out every day or two.

what is the best easiest way to start dosing vodka ? Ive got a whole bunch and i cant drink that much ! I would like to start dosing vodka but to be honest i get too confused as to how much each day then how much on a maintenance basis ?
