green star polyps

OK guys I've always wondered this..... I've had gsp. For a long time and they do things I can't understand. They are open just fine for a couple of months just great and then its like they disappear they don't open for a while except a couple of polyps. Why do they do this????

Party too much the night before? Have no clue honestly, my piece of gsp does the same thing. It's always the day after I think I should throw that dead chunk of coral away that they decide to open up again.

Never had that happen but I have a huge chunk of GSP... mine closes if something walks over it though. I had issued when it was in a super high flow area with it closing up but then I moved it and it has been fine since...

i have 2 patches of GSP that are from the same original colony, but in different parts of my tank and they look completely different. one colony is in a higher flow area then the other, but both of them seem to close up from time to time.

They can accumulate detritus sometimes depending on flow and placement. You might want to try blowing them off with some current (or a turkey baster). I've done this with my gsp's and they seem to always open the next day and go back ot normal, however, it could also be coincidence.

I have probably 20 large patches of gsp and mine has mood swings sometimes (wonder if there female?)
