Ive had my Midas blenny for about 9 months without any issues. Its always been very active and ate like a glutton. In the last 10 days, he has dropped weight incredibly fast. His cheeks and body are all sunken in like he is starving (you can see his lateral line). His activity level is the same, and he still eats like crazy. Other than the weight loss, I havent seen any changes in him. No foreign objects or stringy poo. I have two other fish (cardinal and firefish) that are doing just fine and I have not introduced anything new in my tank for months. Ive been feeding daily (frozen brine alternating with flake).
Some things, not sure if they play a factor....
• I am battling hair algae and high phosphates at the moment.
• I did have an issue with my GFO reactor in March. It backed up and I had GFO dust in my display tank. I did water changes and ran carbon for a couple days to help clear it up.
I thought it might be a parasite, so I treated the tank with API General Cure (Metronidazole) and soaked some brine in it to feed. Ive treated tank twice now.
Water Specs...
SG has been at 0.026
Temp 77.5-79 (flux thru day)
0 ammonia (API test)
0 nitrite (API test)
0 nitrate (API test)
Not sure what it is and how else to help the little guy. He's my favorite fish. :fie:
