I've had clowns rip off tentacles of hammer/spawn/Xenia, only to let it go in the water column. Hammer/frogspawn don't start to grow, but the Xenia seem to be able to regenerate from tiny pieces ripped off, to float and reattach somewhere else.

I believe that is from you torch coral, I get that sometimes too might me touching another coral.

Yes it's a torch or frogspawn I think .. When clowns rip em off sometimes ( or when we brush them off while cleaning ) they float around and sometimes may cause tissue loss on other sensitive corals ..
