It's hard to say. Diatoms are a good sign things are moving along. I do question your test results though, I would retest the Nitrates. If you are truly past the initial cycle, it should be above 0. Just remember that tanks do continue to have micro cycles of some sort as the nutrients build, but if the bacteria population is up to par it will never be noticed. Did you track numbers from the start?

Well then you are not done cycling....you need to have the nitrite spike. You doing a cycle with fish in the tank ?

yes i did correction had nitrite of .25ppm

So you had a slight Ammonia spike, slight Nitrite Spike and no Nitrates? I'm not questioning you, I am doubting the results the test kits have given you? Are these fish in the tank during this?

yes they look fine eating well

While it's an old method of cycling tanks, I'm not going to be judge mental since it's something I have done in the past also. On the other hand, when fish eat, fish poop so there has to be a build up of nutrients that would at least show some Nitrates on a quality test kit. I am leaning more and more on the fact this thing hasn't really cycled yet. It can still be a success in the end, but it is going to take more work on your part.

Wow only 2 weeks and live sand and fish your tank needs to learn how to take care of it self before putting that kind of a load on it. And you might have problems eventually because of it. A good method is only a couple pieces of live rock to start a cycle and it should take a month. But that's my 2 cents

Thinking of taking some water to my local shop to get it tested. And don't mind the work since my son got very excited and wants to help and lern how to take care of the tank he's been watching videos on YouTube and put aside his xbox which is a good news lol

I have full blown sps tank and I started in November. I had fish in. A week after starting. I did use microbactor and cheated with water but everything else was dry. It can be done

You prolly should have taken that water in before adding livestock, seeing it's to late for that please try to remain proactive. You have too many fish for a new tank that size.
I guess we should be preparing for a bunch of threads like this come summer.
