Issues with yellow tang

Hey everyone. So I have a fairly new addition to my tank which I picked up last week. Its a yellow tang and he is not looking so hot. I will post a pic asap but he has a large brownish spot on his side. He is scratching and I was wondering what you guys would recommend. FW dip?

I have no experience with this, but you might want to research setting up a hospital tank with copper or hypo-salinity treatments. Some of the more experienced fish keepers will chime in I am sure, but that definitely sounds like something you want to address.

You should always QT your new fish. I've learned to always do a freshwater dip for parasites like flukes and then QT in copper. Hypo is too dificult to maintain for most people and copper is just easier, so that's what I use. Good luck though.

I actually have my old 14g biocube that I guess I could keep and have as a QT tank. What would a good copper medicine be?

Once you use copper in that biocube, you can never use it for keeping coral. Buy a tank and use it for copper treatments or Hypo only. You just need the basics for a QT. If you need one, I just so happen to have a 29 gallon sitting around that I could sale. Chi-chang.

lol ya I am not wanting to sell the tang, just the biocube. How long do you have to put them in the copper QT for them to be better? I can pick that stuff up though I assume at most lfs`s. Thanks Kornbread, how much would you want for it. What would go into the QT, just sand and a chunk of LR? Depending on price I may just keep the BC14. If I was to keep it should I just always put every fish into it with the copper? All I have been doing for corals is dipping them for like 5 minutes and then rinsing and putting into tank. Is that cool?

I would be interested in buying the biocube. Pm me a price. I have a 20 gallon you can use for qt if you'd like. Lmk.

Hey ADO, PM sent. And I went to advanced aquatics yesterday and showed him pics of the Tang. Cant remember the exact words but he said its from stress and not to do the FW dip. Also, I have used Bifuran for my dips in the past. Didnt know you could do just ro/di dip and it would help. The guy at the store said not to do it because it would just stress the tang out more. The tang looks like he is doing much better though, rash still present but he is eating now and swimming in the open.
