So.......... yeah ........... another build LOL

Was originally looking for a frag tank, but figured this would suffice, as I mostly just needed a home for my nems :)

Will continue to update thread with pics as I progress.
Reef Savvy Rimless - 28x28x14

Building of the stand -
Used 2x4's for the framework
Top and bottom of frame

Attached the legs -

Put plywood on the bottom, got 2 of the sides shaped and permanently attached – (The plywood on top was to help with a ½" spacing I needed for putting sides on)

Got wheels/casters mounted to bottom –

Now for easily obtaining access underneath the tank, I kept the back panel open, with a removable panel on the front.
Front door building process -
Used wood glue and clamps, then used a brad nailer to connect trim and corner pieces

For the top edging to go around the bottom of tank, I stripped a 1x4 and rounded the edge, then took quarter round trim and nailed that to the top of it.

Showing how the front panel door interlocks with the stand –
With this method, you do not see any edges, and everything is covered when the door is in place, making it invisible!!

NOW TIME TO PAINT!!!

Nice work Josh, and I see a blue ninja sneaking into the photos… :)

That should end up being somewhere around 500lbs when done. Those look like horror freight castors? I tired similar ones on my first nano which was smaller and had issue with them. Even though they were 125-150lb castors they could not handle the load. I ended up going to oversized castors from mcmastercarr. Night and day difference the 2, in price and quality.

I actually haven't had an issue with these ... yet .... they are rated at 175 each. I'm currently using them on my 2 corner and center sump build and seem to be doing great! Had to move tanks to run wires and such, and boy it was EASY!!! HAHA

I did all of this over the weekend too!! LOL
Starting to get the plans ready for the "floating" canopy - don't want to keep from having a rimless tank with a canopy sittin' on top of it :)

Cool. They started ok on my nano, total volume around 65 gallons. But after a few moves when full the wheel pivots started loosening and tilting. With the constant static load the wheel bushing(way too soft) started deforming and making rolling a PITA. It was a hot mess by the time I took the tank offline.

Just trying to save you some of the pain I went through. Even after draining a few inches out of the tank, rolling it would take so much force the water would slosh.

Looking good so far, what kind of lights will you be using? Why don't you keep the top completely open without any floating canopy? Such a beauty rimless would look sweet with a radion over it.

I'm going with leds, but not sure if I will like the way they hang from the ceiling. I figured with the canopy you won't see any cords (going to run them inside the wall)

Pic to show how I had to make the led strips work with this frame.....
I figured I'd put them to use, instead of just in a box HAHA
