Alright so I bought a 13in 13w PC Light unit off ebay for cheap to use as a Fuge light. He said the bulb was new but when in arrived i could see the 'charring' and within a day it burned out. Got my money fully refunded and got to keep the light.

The bulb's markings said: "PL-13W PL-13W-BW DAYLIGHT+BLUE"

Replaced it with a small watt bulb (couldnt find a 13w at the time) and it blew it immediately. Then I replaced it w/ a "Marineland 13w PL" (CF13LS/850) and that one blew immediately as well.

My question is...is the problem the incorrect bulb...or could there be something wrong with the unit itself. Figured I'd ask here before buying yet another bulb.
 
what happens when it blows do you hear anything in the unit smell anything out of ordinary besides blown bulbs
 
Nope, just kind of a 'pop' - Others think it may be a bad ballast... Can't think of anything else it would be...
