Matting between hardwood floor and stand

We just bought a house with new hardwood floors. What are people's opinions on placing a mat between the floor and stand. If so what do you use and why?
 
Just helped a buddy put a 75 on his hardwood floors and we just flipped a super thin rug type thing over and sat it on that. Made the tank easier to side and protected the floor

Not sure on tank size yet. 90 or 120 most likely.

I also thought about putting nothing under it with no floor in the stand so I could just wipe the floor down when needed. Sump and everything will be in the basement. Fish room happy dance!
