Midnight Clown Fish breeding?

I actually just won a pair of these yesterday at the aquatic show in the raffle. Reading online and they seem to be one of more rare Clown Fish. Wondering what would be needed to maybe breed these? I have a 20 gallon long and a biocube sitting around. Right now they are in my 65 gallon tank, but would be interested in learning how to raise some babies

I'm guessing your pair will need some time to get used to your tank before they start laying eggs. That's if they lay eggs at all; not all pairs mate. I've had my pair for about five years now and they just started laying early this year.

Wow did not think it could take up to 5 years, but good to know. How often do they lay eggs? Just curious so i know once i see them how much time i would have to get ready for the next time.

Should have introduced the fish porn much sooner. :)

I so put in on that raffle too. I put in on all the clownfish raffles, lol. I was really hoping for the flurry pair so I could complete ny trilogy. I have a Chilled Frostbite Clownfish and a Frozen Frostbite Clownfish. Flurry Frostbite Clownfish is the missing piece. Congrats to you, glad to see someone from CR won the Midnights.

Thank you!, you I put in for all the clowns too. I really like them, my wife still thinks they are ugly, but she will get over it lol. I just need to get a BTA for them to host soon :)

ORA breeds them...they are not the most popular but beautiful none the less...
clownfish typically reach "mature" breeding age at around 2-3 years old so if you have small juvis, you have a while to go...also, as Victor mentioned, not all pairs become breeding pairs right away either.
My oldest pair of snowflakes were born in Jan 2011 and have just started laying eggs.

please post some pix of them and let us know how old they are if you know...if not, maybe you can ask whomever donated them for the raffle...

When they started breeding they were laying eggs roughly every two weeks. They stopped for awhile when I rearranged some of the rock. I just saw another clutch of eggs yesterday though.

I won them from Proaquatix, Not sure how old they are, but I will post a picture of them when i get home from work.

they are 234 days old, I asked Proquatix on facebook and they replied was actually quite surprised that they did, as promised here is a picture, was kind of hard to get them together they are still exploring their new home!

yeah....7+ months old means they are still young and may not have even decided which will become the dominant female...
interesting that Proaquatix breeds all black Midnights while ORA appears to breed their Midnights with orange faces and orange undertones in the body...

Craig, 7 month old clown can become a fully functional male
But you are right, a yong pair can take a long time to figure out who's gonna be the female.
