If you can find one already eating a variety of foods then you'll have a better chance of keeping it alive. I've hear in the wild they enjoy eating bright green sponge. Not sure if it's only that particular sponge or all sponges. Just something that someone witnessed while diving. When I had mine it was eating everything and did great for 4 months until my powder brown got ich and killed most of my fish. They also require alot of swimming room which clearly you have

Ive tried many times had good luck kinda most i got to eat everything including pellets few died fast but did have few that lasted over a yr then tank out breaks killed them first usually the last one was great then noticed top jaw grew longer then bottom made it hard for him to eat and died . So they can be done just make sure they eat treat them like tangs for ich magnets and treat for internals even if no signs . Then research diet in wild i have feeling they need specialized diet to do there best . Not easiest fish to keep but i had better luck with then then regal angels

Size doesn't matters. It depends on who collected them. Most people tend to buy the indo ones since they are very cheap. However, they are collected poorly, not fed for weeks, etc. Hawaiian Idols are double the money but live.

We sell a lot of idols and most people come back to buy more after having success with the first.

They only problem I see with your tank is that Idols are slow eaters and might night get enough food before the big fish inhale it.

I'd love to find a LARGE Hawaiian like 6-8" bet it could keep up with the feeding... we feed the HELL out of our fish

Most of the Hawaiians are large. We can let you know when the next batch arrives.
