new RO membrane not allowing water through

As the subject says. I replaced my old RO membrane with a new GE one from Home Depot last night. I soaked it for two hours as the instructions said. I ran it for two hours after that and for another hour today and it is hardly making any clean water. Any suggestions before I tear everything apart again?
 
Thats weird at least you bought it at somewhere that you can return it. I have never had that happen when you say tear everything apart is everything hooked up right after replacement ? Ro membrane replacement should be pretty easy.
 
I don't have my camera cable with me...pretty simple DIY set up...two GE smartwater filter housings with a sediment filter in one and carbon filter in another going to the RO housing. I was getting 0 TDS with a used filter that was given to me...my TDS had got up to 17 with the old RO membrane. I put new sediment and carbon filters and a new membrane and now I'm at 160TDS...WTF!
 
From what i just learned/delt with flow restrictors are useless. Put an adjustable shut off valve on your drain line and adjust it till u have a 4:1 ratio
 
Yeah the flow restrictor i had was not working I put a valve on it to slow down the waste line. Really slow good water coming out of new membrane... think i might take it back and use the old one!
 
Get a1 cup + measuring cup. See how long it takes to fill 1/4 cup of good water. Set that time and see how much waste u get in that time. You should Gerry 1 cup in the same time u got 1=4.
 
I use flow restrictors no problem. I used BRS stuff. Works like a charm. i get 5-6 tds out of RO! What is your feed PSI? i got 90 PSI feed.
 
I do not have a pressue gage...The water is still coming out really slow. I may just take this membrane back and get stuff from BRS!
 
Update on this...I took the membrane back to home depot, ordered a 75gpd membrane from BRS and got it all hooked up and TDS is still at 160ish. 660 TDS coming into prefilters!!! What is everyone else using for prefilters?
 
1 micron sediment and 5 micron carbon is what I use, and then 75 gpd. with DI I get 0 TDS. 460 before filtration.
