I bought some new rock from the swap, and I found some Aptasia.

Heres is what I was thinking about doing:

Taking rock out and scrubbing the areas that there are Aptasia on it and then doing a RO rinse to clear off any particles left behind.

Does anything think there is a better way to get rid of them before there is too many I know these things grow like weeds, I only have about 5-10 that I can see, I'm sure it will be like 100 in like 1month.

So any advice or ideas won't be underlooked.

Thanks

Vinegar soak or tap water soak. Or you can let it dry to kill them, but rock wont be live anymore.

If I do a Vinegar or Tap Water soak for how long would I have to do it? Also will that kill the rock? I have injected them in the past with Lemon Juice but that just gets messy and takes to much time.

Don't scrub the rock!!! This will cause an outbreak because of the way they breed. I use aptasia-x with moderate success (i only have one spot where it keeps coming back, b/c of a rock I put in that had numerous ones on it) or I hear kalk paste works too. The zapper thing is supposed to work, but you would have to find someone with one willing to share, it is fun to watch though.

My advice though would be to frag the corals off the rock. I do this whenever I see aptasia or any other undesirable. To me I would rather suffer the potential loss from fragging then to have aptasia or something else take over my tank. If you have a QT for corals, just put it in there and try the kalk or aptasia-x and wait several weeks to make sure no more babies pop up. GL
