So I'm starting a new 20L build and I'd like to have some different fish reef safe of course. And somthing other than clowns. If i can't really go with anything else I'm just going to get a pair of clowns. And what's the max amount of fish I can put in there.

Depends on the type/amount of filtration you have in there...but generally, you can put about 2-3 smaller fish in a 20gal.
 
How about firefish, gobys or blennys? Most of them only need 10gal minimum, and from what I remember its 1" of fish per gallon or so I read, so like Smitty said 2 or 3 maybe 4 depending on what fish you get
 
How about some kinda smaller wrasse? I love watching them swim around the rockwork.

How about a species only tank, a frogfish?
 
Frog fish I thought of but nah I do like the wrasse idea.

if the tank is gonna be covered and if you are not going bare bottom .. then id say Pearly jawfish is one of the most funniest and entertaining fish you can have in there ..


mine actually uses a small rock like kinda door :D everytime i feed i just push off the rock and in 3 or 4 hours its back where it is lol

so funny and they like watching you :P
