I just got Fathers Day gift. Octopus XP 1000 sss in sump skimmer!!!!!!! Looks big and nice it is silent compare to my old one.Came wit no manual just parts names. I know it has to break in. Thouse micro bubbles will go away i hope. But as you see after 1 hour still overflow bad. I put everything together hope right. Just that silencer < clear little cup on side of skimmer not sure inside pipe up or down. Suprice me that water level marked is 11 to14 kind of deep. Working right now on 11. That red walve is halfway open. <not so sure what that red walve do.> Maybe to adjust water level not sure. Did I do everything right? Should I do something to help break in? Please let me know.
 
My neighbor has an Octopus. I believe the red valve adjusts the water height. Nice gift!!

I guess I just panic. When I opened more that red valve witch regulates level of water in skimmer it slowed down. Now after 24 hours I see 1/2" of dark yellow skimmate. I wanted upgrade to better skimmer but also quieter. My old one was so loud. I tell you guys this one is unreal. I can not hear it running. So great. That skimmer has mark lines for min. and max. water level. when I mesure from the bottom it is 11 to14". Kind of strange, I always read that they run best in 6 to 8" of water. What you guys think?
 
And after I called them I found out that thouse 2 lines on the skimmer are max and min water level inside the skimmer. Water level in sump skimmer section should be 6". Problem solved. Even that it worked for 24 hours 11" deep still monster pull a lot of crap. Now I raised him. Oooo... happy Fathers Day everyone!!!!
