Overflow question

Morning all, I am wanting to lower the fence on my overflow today. The center support was reinstalled on a angle... It is dividing the surface water and looks bad! I can't turn my pump down any more. It's still a slow flow rate until I fix this. I'll be doing a wc today and would like to correct this problem.
 
Lowering the fence on the overflow. How to cut them lower with being a clean cut. Sorry should have clairified better on it.
 
If the tank is running, you may be in for disaster. What kind of overflow are you running? An over flow box like a glass holes setup or something similar? A hob overflow or a built in unit like what comes on a reef ready tank?
