PAR38 LED lighting question

So, I am new to the LED scene and have only used PC and T-5s on my saltwater tanks the last 7years. I am starting a new frag tank thats a 20gal long. I have two T5s 420actinics I am putting on and was wondering how many PAR 38s i should use in addition. They have 4- cool white and 8- 455 blue leds. I was thinking of getting two being a 20long and keeping even lighting.

These are the ones I was going to try out.

Thanks for any help,
Paul

Good question Paul. Take a look at coralcompulsion, ocreef, rapidled, or boostled par bulbs. The eBay bulb uses 1w leds. The other are 3w but run at 2w. Idk what the actual color temperature will end up being with eBay bulb. For a 24in long tank I'd recommend 4 of the eBay bulbs or 2 higher quality 36w bulbs.

They seem like deal, but I'm afraid you may upgrade to an awesome full spectrum bulb from coral compulsion. Btw. He warranties his bulbs. GL

+1 on coralcompulsion.com jimmy is awesome offers a great warranty and he's local so if there's ever an issue he can take care of it quickly.

+2 I say 2 for sure on a 20L.. Will you be making your own DIY to hang these?

Thanks guys, good to know!!! I have heard a few people mention the overseas cheaper led bulbs and that they do work but the higher end bulbs are better quality and higher wattage. I am building my own top for the frag tank and have a set of 4 T5s as of right now layin around I can use, but plan to switch to LEDs once I have some extra cash. Im building to the top next week so I want to allow for the leds fixtures and size bulbs to make the transistion smoother.

Thanks again,
Paul

I hate to rain on your parade, but its gonna be annoying to switch em out later. I would setup and cycle without a light. This will give u time to just buy the par bulbs. These bulbs are really nice. I was a DIY led and heatsink guy, but I let it go for a simple screw in par bulb. :)

I have been reefing for nearly 2 years and am the Southside upgrade/downgrade whore. Ive learned the hard way about ten times and that's just reefing.
