Thats it for updates so far more to come..

So big debate is.. Either stick to bare bottom or put a thin layer of sand.. What u guys thnk?

Bare bottom is great as long as you either:

1) Have a lot of flow to stir up the detritus that will eventually settle to the bottom and annoy you or
2) Methodically clean off the bottom with a turkey baster
3) Don't care about the detritus collecting on the bottom.

Im currently running a maxijet 900 for flow so i have a good amount of flow... But benefits wise it probably wont do a lot if i add sand right?

Sand gives you more surface area for beneficial bacteria to grow. However it also traps some of that detritus so you need a better clean up crew. I think it all really comes down to looks

if I had a very small tank and planning on feeding alot, I would go barebottom, otherwise nutrients will build up real fast. If you are planning on feeding alot with this tank, I would go barebottom and just keep siphoning out leftover food and detritus to keep your nutrients low. it's also easier to spot where detritus and food collect in barebottom and you can put a bunch of corals there to eat the extras that end up there.
