Power Outage

Our power went out for about an hour tonight. Just from experience I knew it wouldn't be for an extended period but it got me wondering : " What's your back up plan?"

I'm guessing people have generators and battery operated air pumps. But what would you do if you don't have those options?

You neeed a big spoon or a paddle to stir up your tank until the power goes on.

I really need to get a generator. At least the 2 times we had a few days w/o power, I was able to rent one from a mile away.

I have a natural gas generator on the house. It automatically kicks on if we lose power.

That would be my dream but we'll never be able to afford that. Did that come with your house or did you install it?

Oh god, with as much money that we've spent on reefing, we probably could've spent the same on a natural gas auto generator

Or just get a vortech battery back up.

I have a battery back up that will only last about 8 hours @ 200 watts an hour, It's enough to run the return and a power head. It's made by APC. Hope that helps. The real problem is when the power goes out for longer than 8 hours, then I'm screwed.
