Protein Skimmer round the clock or intermittent?

I usually try to run my protein skimmer round the clock, unless I'm feeding the corals or watching certain TV shows (skimmers kinda noisy). Do you guys do the same or do you stop it for a few hours a day.

I only turn it off after spot-feeding my corals--usually overnight.

always on here, except when i am feeding the tank, then it's off for maybe an hour.

When I go to my local fish store (Fish Planet) the skimmers seem to be off, I'm guessing to keep store quiet. So I'm just wondering if this is practiced by other reefers.
