Question about dosing Cal/Alk 2 part

I just bought a peristaltic doser and I am going to start dripping calc/alk 2 part. The thing is my calcium is hovering around 480-500 and my alk is 8. The bottle states to dose both in equal parts to stay ionically balanced. Do I really have to dose both, or just slowly drip alk for now as my calcium i pretty adequate. It seems like my SPS are starting to use up 1 of alk a day, and I've been using Seachems Reef Builder to raise my alkalinity, but not enough calcium to dose yet.

Hi,Nino yes you can slowly drip ALK only,and then when your Ca needs to go up start dripping Calcium.I use 2 part on my tank and I dose more ALK then CA ( about 100 ml.of ALK, 80 ml. of Ca daily).So figure how much your tank is using and dose accordingly.BTW I keep my Ca at 420-450 and ALK 7-8.
