Refugium macroalgae as fish food

Hi...saltwater newbie here just setting up my first 10G and 75G reefs.

I've been reading about the benefits of refugiums and growing macroalgae in them (primarily chaeto, but algaebarn has 5 other species available). I'm wondering what do people do with the excess algae? Obviously the trash is where most of it goes, but can you feed it to herbivorous fish? Is it palatable for humans? Somebody on here must of tried it...

Some tangs eat the other algae.
But...it's not too often or growth as much to be a primary food.

Hit or miss with chaeto algae few tangs will eat it most don’t. As for humans maybe some weirdo tried it but with all the chemicals used in this industry i don’t recommend
