refugium or no refugium

ok just left the store was going to buy a sump with refugium was looking at the eshopp 200 and the guy there was saying that it isn't really necessary to have one that its a rest of money now i'm a little confused should i or shouldn't i

I have always had one to me it's personal preference It increases your total water volume and gives a place for micro alge and beneficial critters to live for free food in the tank

I think it depends on what fish you wanna keep, how many gal your display is, do you have the extra money, time (research). I had one at some time but dint really feel I needed it, so I removed it and never looked back... I buy mix bag of critters about once or twice a yr and call it a day.

I carbon dose, and use big skimmer, so no refugium for me.

I just recently decided to put a fuge in my sump after a year and a half of not having one. I mainly wanted a place to grow pods and to grow chaeto to help with my nutrient levels.

Has anyone put a refugium on one of the chambers of an All-In-One? If so do you have any advice?

I have always had a fuge but am upgrading sump and will no longer use one.

Refugiums are like UV, unless you go big, forget about it as it won't help much to serve it's intended purpose. Unless you're doing it to culture pods or something along those lines, I'd move on. Just my 2cents.
