Ro unit help

I got a ro unit from a member here the other day. It's a ocean wave 4 stage 75gpd unit. Looks like 2 of the screw on canister pieces are cracked. I'm curious to see what parts I need to make this a good workable unit. Thanks in advance guys

Sorry here they are

You may or may not need a new membrane; it depends on the TDS coming out. Two new canisters from BRS would run about $36 shipped.

So other than fixing the cracked canisters. I'll need what dual tds? And what else. Single or dual di? Booster pump? Drain? Float switch

Here's what I found on brs.
2 10" canisters
Triple tds
4 to 5 stage chloramine upgrade kit
Booster pump kit
Auto shut off kit
Dual di canisters
Other than the filter blocks/ media stuff how many pressure gauges do I need. Clearly my first ever ro unit

I don't have a chloramine kit, booster pump or auto shut off. You don't need a booster pump of you have good water pressure. You also don't need dual resin canisters. Every set up I've seen only uses one DI canister. And you can build a flush kit from materials from the hardware store. ($8 or so).

I know I'll need the booster pump. Water pressure is alright but not great. I think there's already an auto shut off on this one. Thanks for the help victor

You'll want at least one pressure gauge, and an second would be nice but it's not critical. We tell customers that there are two necessary "tools" to run/troubleshoot these systems - a pressure gauge, and a tds meter. You'll want both.

If you want to install a pressure gauge, you'll also need some fittings. If you plan on adding a booster pump, you'll want a liquid filled pressure gauge.

Be happy to walk you through any/all of this. Might be a little complicated for short posts here. Feel free to call with any questions - we're open 7 days a week and tech support is available every day.

The fact that you have two cracked housings makes me wonder if the system was exposed to freezing temperatures. In which case you may need to replace the third housing as well.

Don't pressurize the system with cracked housings - you're apt to get a very sudden, wet, and unpleasant surprise.

Pull the RO membrane out, look at the label, and tell me the gpd rating on the membrane. Also look and tell me the three or four digit number stamped on the side of the flow restrictor - let's see if they are matched correctly.

While you have the RO membrane out of the unit - is it slimy? Have algae on it? Smell the ends of it - does it stink? Squeeze the membrane in your hand - does it sound "crunchy?" What is the brand name of the membrane?
