RODI WASTE WATER - good for anything?

Hi, I am wondering if the water that is going down the drain as waste can be used to water plants or wash a car etc... Seems like a total waste (no pun intended) to let it go down the drain.

I personally wouldn't drink it, because although it's like your tap water, it has as higher concentration of all the minerals, impurities and what nots that was removed from the original tap water...which could make it harmful to you over time. It wouldn't hurt your plants tho.

The BRS video shows the waste going into a sink drain. This is great news! I have no plans on drinking it, but my yard needs it :)

can you drink ro/di water? heard it didn't taste too good...btw goto sleep!!

He's talking about the waste water. It's no different than what came out of your tap except it went through carbon filters (same as a britta). The actual RO/DI water you should not drink. RO is fine that's what a water filtration system is for drinking water, but DI strips everything out of the water and you'll have a constantly "thirsty" feeling.

Ah that was actually my ?, didnt know if the waste went through the DI filter or just RO. Thanks Eric!!! =)

Waste water actually isn't bad. For example, I have a 75 gpd 98% rejection membrane. Tap water is 126 tds. The reject water is 169 tds. Which is great if you have any freshwater tanks because it has already been dechlorinated by the carbon block.

Holy schnikes I never thought of that! It's in my head that the waste water would be full of nasty, but unless you are flushing your membrane it basically britta water+

mine goes into my sump which goes to the yard

how did you get it to your washing machine?

The RODI unit is running from the laundry room sink, so I just have the waste outlet running into the machine. If no one's home to keep an eye on it, I'll just move the outlet to a waste container and fill up the washer manually.
